Mountains you don't have to go looking for.

Above the snow-covered hills of the Westallgau rises the chain of the Alps — close enough to touch on clear days, a dark line above the fog on grey ones.

The cross-country trails start right in the village. If you'd rather climb than glide, there are snowshoe routes through quiet forests; if you'd rather ride, the lift is a short trip away.

The trails start in the village — and in the Bregenzerwald the snow lasts well into spring.

Scheidegg and Scheffau

Oberstein trail 6.6 km (1.5 h) · Hochberg trail 3.8 km (0.5 h) · Hagspiel trail 3.6 km (0.5 h). In Scheffau you join the trail right in the village, at the sports ground.

Winter outside is one half. The other begins once your boots are by the door: the Badstube with a view into the valley, a seat by the fire, a glass in hand.
