Spring
It arrives later here, and hits harder than elsewhere.
What makes alpine spring in the Allgäu so special? It arrives later here, and hits harder than elsewhere. Yellow dandelion blooms speckle the mountain meadows, wildflowers push their blossoms up through the grass, and wild grasses and herbs turn every square metre into a puzzle for nature lovers to pore over.
Above it all, the last snowfields and white alpine peaks still glow. It's the perfect time for a first hike straight from the door to the summit of the Hirschberg.

Autumn
Indian summer in the Allgäu.
By late August at the latest, the first wisps of morning fog drift through the valleys, announcing the third season. The leaves gradually lose their green, and temperatures cool back down to a pleasant range.
It won't be long now until the deciduous forests glow entirely in warm shades of red, yellow and brown — Indian summer in the Allgäu. The air turns clear and crisp, opening up fantastic long-distance views.
The mountain huts are still open, and after a hike or bike tour, a hut snack tastes twice as good. After the traditional cattle drive in mid-September, the mountains fall quiet again, as herders return the young cattle to their owners in the valley.
